In “My Name is Khan”, SRK is playing the character of Rizvan Khan. This person suffers from Asperger’s Syndrome, which is an autism disorder and is characterised by difficulties in social interaction and behaviour. Half of the film is a true story based on a couple’s life in LA. Karan bought the rights of the story from them.

For the role, Shah Rukh has to gain weight, and that is what he is doing currently. “The role requires me to have a fuller look,” said the actor who has plunged into his character already and is doing research on autism to see how complex these individuals are. “I am reading, watching documentaries, meeting people who are affected by autism and doctors who deal with it. It’s very unnerving and I salute parents who bring up children with any disorders,” said SRK.

Shibani Bhatija, the screenplay writer of the My Name Is Khan, has SRK detained in LA as a suspected terrorist because he is a Muslim and his impairment makes his behaviour suspicious.

Aamir Bashir, one of the cast members of Karan Johar’s latest venture ‘My Name Is Khan’ was denied US Visa recently. Due to this, he is unable to join the crew in USA.

Now he has been replaced by Jimmy Shergil. Jimmy Shergil has already worked with Shahrukh Khan in ‘Mohabbatein’.

Aamir Bashir was to play the role of Shah Rukh Khan’s younger brother in the film. Shahrukh Khan and Karan Johar are presently in Los Angeles and busy in shooting.

Now Jimmy Shergil is going to USA and will do the shooting in Los Angeles.

Actress Sonya Jehan, the grand daughter of singer-actress late Noor Jehan, will be seen playing the second lead in Karan Johar`s upcoming flick ‘My Name is Khan’.

The actress, who marked her debut with Akbar Khan`s ‘Taj Mahal’ was last seen in ‘Khoya Khoya Chaand’, is highly excited about working under a big banner.

She is reportedly playing an integral character, while Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol will be playing the main lead. SRK is apparently portraying an autistic character in the film which is being shot in Los Angeles.

Kajol is on a weight losing spree for her latest project with Karan Johar!.

“She couldn’t say no as she plays an NRI woman in the film and as per the look of her character she has to look thin. Hence she had to forego her binging habit and start with a special diet. She is currently in Los Angeles shooting for the film with her two good friends, Karan Johar and Shah Rukh Khan, ” says a unit hand.

Apart from keeping a tab on the calorie intake, Kajol is sweating it out at the gym too to cut that extra flab. Interestingly, SRK had stopped working out as his six pack abs look was not required in Aditya Chopra’s Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi. As far as his look in My Name Is Khan is concerned, he plays an NRI Muslim man here and is required to look lean.

Niranjan Iyenger – the dialogue writer of films like Madhur Bhandarkar’s FASHION, Karan Johar’s KABHI ALVIDA NA KEHNA and KAL HO NA HO, has turned lyricist with Karan Johar’s latest My Name is Khan.

He has written two outstanding ’sufi’ based compositions for the most awaited movie of 2009. The lyrics have already been put to tunes and as per a very reliable film personality who has had the privilege of listening to them, they are simply awesome. Both the songs will be used in the background.

Well, we are sure that the talented and now versatile Niranjan Iyenger, who has proved himself as an able dialogue writer, will surely hit it off as a lyricist too. And he has got the perfect launch vehicle, a Karan Johar film starring Bollywood’s global super star, Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol!

Following the terrorist attacks in Mumbai, some Muslim members from the cast and crew of the film have been denied US visas.

This includes SRK’s personal staff and also actor Aamir Bashir who has acted in ‘A Wednesday’.

The buzz is that post the Mumbai terror attacks the US consulate has become extremely cautious about issuing visas and apparently despite making them understand that the people concerned were leaving for a shoot, the authorities didn’t budge.

The rejected members have been left with no choice but to submit fresh applications and praying for better luck this time around.

Shahrukh Khan - New Look !!

Shahrukh Khan - New Look !!

Shahrukh Khan has Chopped off his hair for Karan Johar’s new venture “My Name is Khan”. This new look has been given to Sharukh Khan by Hairdresser Dilshad

This haircult is very similart to what is called a “crew cut”.

In My Name Is Khan, Shah Rukh plays a character called Rizwan Khan, who suffers from Asperger’s Syndrome, a relatively milder form of autism.

The first half of the film is based on a true story that happened to a couple and Karan Johar has bought the story rights from the couple.

Karan Johar has his heart set on the White House, the residence of the US President for his next directorial venture ‘ My Name is Khan’, starring golden couple Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol.

Yes, you got that right! Karan Johar surely has a taste that is one of it’s kind. The director was recently in US doing some location shopping and it’s being reported that he even applied for a permission to shoot in the White House.

Apparently, the attraction is not with the White House but offering something novel in his movie. After Snoop Dog singing to the Punjabi beats in ‘Singh Is Kinng’ and Sylvester Stallone coming in Sajid Nadiadwala flick ‘Kambakht Ishq’, Karan is doing what it takes to stand out in the crowd.

Speaking to a news daily, the director said, “I’m currently working on pre-production. The story of my film takes the lead actors from San Francisco to LA and eventually to Washington DC. I am trying to figure out permissions including locations in and around Washington. I still have a lot of time till I achieve these permissions as I only start the shoot of the movie.

The corporatisation of Bollywood is a recent phenomenon but there have been two production houses that had already imbibed the culture long back. We are obviously referring to Yash Raj Films and Dharma Productions, who have more or less stuck to their shooting, pre & post-production and release schedules.

So what is the schedule for the biggest project from Dharma Productions, featuring the winning pair of Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol? Well, the good news for the eager fans of SRK-Kajol is that the pre-production is over and MY NAME IS KHAN is currently being shot in US.

Dharma Productions have also gone ahead and given November 2009 as the tentative release date.

A Chit Chat With Shibani Bathija- The Screenwriter of Popular Films Like KANK, Fanaa and the upcoming Kara Johar film My Name is Khan starring Shah Rukh Khan!

1. How did your journey with Bollywood films begin?

It began in my childhood as my father, Raj Bathija, produced films for a few years. In recent times, I wrote a script that I requested Karan Johar to read in 2002. He read it and then passed it on to Aditya Chopra who contacted me to write for Yash Raj. And so it all began.

2. You have written scripts for blockbuster films like Fanaa, Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna and upcoming films like Kidnap and My Name is Khan. Which is your personal favorite?

How can you choose a favorite amongst your children? I love them all for different reasons.

3. How has it been working with banners like Yash Raj and Dharma Productions?

Dharma and Yash Raj have both been wonderful companies to work for. I feel blessed that I had the opportunity to begin with the best. Karan and Adi are writers themselves and know how to allow equal measure of freedom and direction to a written work. And most importantly they respect writers and the give due importance to the script.

4. If you could write a script for an actor and actress from the seventies, who would you want playing the lead roles in the film?

Rishi Kapoor and Dimple. Bobby is one of my favorite films of all time and I would have loved to follow up with another film starring the two of them.

5. Tell us a little bit about your upcoming films Kidnap and My Name is Khan. What can audiences expect and how are they different from your previous films?

Kidnap is a dram-iller or a dramatic story told in a thriller format. Just in that it is completely different from Fanaa and KANK. It takes on the themes of Crime and Punishment in an interesting way, I believe. The rest is for the audience to decide! My Name is Khan has been the most challenging film I have written till date and certainly the most ambitious. It is a subject Karan and I feel very strongly about, and regardless of what he modestly says, he is most certainly the best director for it.

6. You are currently in San Fransisco writing for your next film. Can you tell us a little more about your upcoming projects?

I am researching and writing a ‘young’ film for Studio 18 here in San Francisco, and am very excited about the new challenges and opportunities in store.
